~ 21 Years of Vineyard Experience ~

My vineyard experience began in 1980 where I pursued a bachelor's degree in Viticulture at California State University at Fresno (CSUF).

During this time I also worked at the Paul Mason Winery in the grower relations department, an opportunity that gave me valuable insight with the problems and issues facing the local growers and with the wide variety of grapes they produced.

I received a Bachelor Degree in Vitculture in 1982 and moved to Virginia where I was given the assignment of starting up and nurturing a 40+ acre vineyard. At this time, growing grapes in central Virginia for wine was a relatively new concept for this size vineyard. During this time I gained the knowledge that is required to make growing grapes on the East coast financially possible.

Past Vice President and Treasurer of the Virginia Vineyards Association and current member.  Hosted several viticultural seminars on technical aspects of vineyard management with Dr. Tony Wolf, State Viticulture Specialist.and Dr. Bruce Zoecklin, State enologist.

East coast viticulture is very challenging but the potential rewards are great. We are showing East coast viticulture can compete with the world in wine quality and value.
