They all have their advantages and disadvantages.  The type of system you choose depends on your vine spacing, variety of grape, vigor of the soil and personal preference. It is often difficult to determine the potential vigor of a site and changing from one system to another (retrofitting) has been done in many vineyards successful. Your initial planting density will determine if it is possible to retrofit the vineyard in the future.
